Fleas are in abundance in springtime. You may find them in your yard or on your dog, which can attach to you or your pet and make their way into your home. If you don't take care of this issue immediately, you could end up with a flea infestation in your home. To help get rid of the fleas in your home, there are a few things you'll need to do, but you'll also need to do something about the fleas in your yard to prevent them from coming back. Read on for tips and information on how to get rid of fleas in your home and in your yard.

Spray Your Yard

Use an insecticide on your yard, either a liquid form or you can use a granular form. Look for an insecticide that will take care of fleas. Be sure to read through the manufacturer's information on what exactly it gets rid of and how to use it. You will most likely need to keep your pet and children off of your lawn for a few hours. Apply the insecticide to your yard and reapply as needed according to the instructions.

Keep Your Lawn Mowed

Your lawn is going to house all types of pests if you aren't taking care of it. Keep it mowed and trimmed, and trim back trees and other landscaping. Fleas are usually found in the grass, but other pests may also be there as well. These pests can also make their way into your home if you aren't careful.

Use a Flea Bomb in Your Home

After you start to take care of your yard, move inside to take care of the fleas in your home. Be sure everyone is out of your home when using any type of insecticide. A flea bomb can be used to kill the fleas all over your home. Cover items that you don't want to be damaged by the insecticide spray such as televisions or other hard surfaces. After using the insecticide, ventilate your home and them vacuum your home thoroughly.

Shampoo Your Pet

Your pet is also going to need some work done as well. Use a flea shampoo to bathe your pet and remove any fleas you see. If you can't handle bathing your pet yourself, take your pet to the veterinarian or to a groomer to have a flea bath.

Keep an eye out for fleas after doing all of this work and if you continue to see them in or around your home, call services such as Affordable Pest Control Inc to take care of this problem for you.

Although most people don't think too terribly much about pests, they really can wreak havoc on your home, especially over the span of several years. I began focusing more and more on pest control a few years back, and I came to the conclusion that there were some issues with termites in our basement. This blog is here for anyone who has questions about pest control, since it can help to read articles that address different aspects of keeping pests from running rampant inside your home.
